Turning specialist knowledge into a new source of stock.
BMW M Cars grew organically out of AReeve Performance. Aaron was already working on these cars all the time, servicing, tuning, doing MOTs and chasing awkward faults, so buying and selling the odd one turned into a business in its own right.
It was already working commercially through his reputation, his network and channels like AutoTrader. So the brief was not another car-sales website. The bigger opportunity was inbound: making it easy for owners of good M cars to find Aaron when they were thinking about selling, rather than Aaron travelling the country to source them.
01 The homepage

01
Defining the real opportunity
Rather than treating BMW M Cars as another used-car website, we focused on the bigger commercial opportunity: attracting owners who were considering selling. That meant building the site around stock acquisition as much as stock sales.
02
Building around specialist credibility
We positioned the business around Aaron’s real-world knowledge of these cars. The site explains why specification, condition, modifications, history and provenance matter, and why a specialist looks at a car differently from a generic buying platform.

03 Key journeys
03
Creating an inbound selling journey
A dedicated “Sell Your BMW M Car” journey lets owners send the information that matters: model, mileage, service history, modifications, finance and photographs. Aaron gets a far stronger first view of the car before deciding whether it is suitable stock.
04
A business with two sides to serve
The same specialist credibility works in both directions, so the site has to say it twice, to two different people.
05
Built to be found, not just browsed
Ranking for the cars in stock is a short-lived win, because stock changes every week. The M Car Guides section targets the questions M owners and buyers are already asking, which is where the sellers come from.

The business
Not every M car is just a registration number.
These are enthusiast cars. Specification, factory options, condition, service history, modifications and provenance all affect desirability. That's why selling through a specialist is very different from typing the registration into a generic buying site. A generic service sees a registration and a mileage. Aaron sees an F80 M3, an M2 Competition, an M4 with the right options, a well-sorted modified car.
What the work delivers
A dedicated acquisition channel
A clear online route for owners who want to sell directly to a specialist rather than to a marketplace.
Stronger specialist positioning
The workshop experience becomes part of the reason to sell to, or buy from, BMW M Cars.
More buyer confidence
Buyers know the cars were selected by people who work on these vehicles every day.
Less reliance on outbound sourcing
The site encourages suitable cars to come to Aaron rather than relying entirely on him travelling to find them.
Better-quality enquiries
Owners provide mileage, history, specification, modifications and photographs before the first conversation.
A growing owned audience
Building a direct network of buyers and sellers instead of renting one from third-party marketplaces.
