Background

Pest Control was established over 20 years ago, selling a huge variety of pest control products. They are solely an ecommerce business, meaning that they operate online only with no physical shop to trade from. They have always managed their online sales themselves and do not employ any website developers to maintain or improve their website.

The Problem

Pest control were using Actinic ecommerce software, which was installed on an office computer and all changes were made to the local offline version which would need to be uploaded to the live webiste. This meant that any website changes had to be uploaded out of hours to ensure it did not affect either daily website sales or customer browsing. This type of software had become quite outdated and cumbersome to use so we needed to look at ways to improve it. Initially, Pest Control migrated to a Magento website via Sellerdeck, the new name for Actinic’s sales team but found this to be difficult to manage and deal with any changes so after approximately a year they turned to us for help.

The Solution

Firstly, we needed to ensure that during their revamp Pest Control did not lose out on any sales due to inevittable ‘down-time’. It was decided that we would clone all of the products, orders and customers from the Magento software and then built them a new woocommerce site.

The new site meant better functionality; it included products for both professional and domestic pest control as well as the ability to manage telephone orders through the website. We made sure every issue Pest Control had with their previous software was resolved and worked with them to create a new, up to date website. Due to the nature of the products sold the website, it was a complicated build but we were able to offer them all the functionality they required without any compromise.
